Yes – it is haram. Allah tells us clearly to “shun them” so that we may be “successful”
Most people I know who work these jobs end up “stuck”. It’s hard for them to reach a level of success in their life. Shunning those jobs forces you to look elsewhere, to obtain better skills. When you sell those things, you are feeding a system that looks to keep people down. It is not benefitting anyone except the owners of those systems.
Dear Michelle. I would advise you to give a final comment at the end of all such questions so that there is no confusion on what the Islamic ruling is on such a topic. To leave it open ended invites the plausibility there is no clear cut answer and that there is no actual Islamic judgement on the issue.
